The Amédée Lighthouse is not only a functional navigational aid but also a popular tourist attraction. Built-in France in 1862, it was originally intended for use on the coast of Brittany. However, due to a mix-up in the shipment of materials, the lighthouse arrived in New Caledonia instead. As a result, it was decided to assemble it there, and it still stands on Amédée Island, located just off the coast of the city of Nouméa.
